Ordering FAQ
Pricing & Product Info
How fast do you ship? What is the shipping time on my order?
Very fast! I check my orders everyday. When I receive your confirmation, your order will automatically go through processing. Before sending anything out, I make sure all your order and shipping information are correct prior to shipping. I won't ship the print or stock file until payment has been received, unless you've worked out a special payment option and I have agreed to it. Afterwards, expect the print to be in your hands within 3-5 days. Upon contacting me, you can choose three shipping methods... via US Postal Service, UPS or FedEx. My extremely fast shipping and follow-up is what I'm known for and one of the reasons why many people choose Sierra Life.
Do you deliver?
Unfortunately, due to my move, I have discontinued my delivery service. My apologies. Many thanks go to those who have purchased and used my delivery service!
What type of payment do you accept?
Only cash and personal checks are accepted at the moment. I hope to have my card processing working very soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.
What if I bounce a check?
Please don't... I charge a fee of $30 for every bounced check you write to me. Ouch right?
Do you offer any refunds or exchanges?
I stand behind the quality of my work. Any cosmetically flawed or damaged prints will be exchanged without question. If you receive your print in poor or damaged condition, you got it... simply mail it back to me within 10 days of receiving it and you'll receive another free of charge. Replacements will usually be mailed within 7 days. I offer a 1 year free guarantee and "warranty" on my prints, therefore giving you an outstanding advantage. Within that year, if the quality of your print deteriorates or begins to fade, you'll receive another absolutely free. In other words, your satisfaction is guaranteed.
What type of finish will I receive exactly?
Either glossy or matte finish of your choice. When you order a print, simply check the gloss or matte finish box. A glossy finish tends to appeal to most customers, as it saturates colors very well compared to a matte or lustre finish, which retains an "artsy" quality to any photograph and reduces glare. Both choices look equally great, but the choice is completely yours.
What types of mattes and framing do you offer?
All Sierra Life customers are given the opportunity to select the matte color and frame style to complement their photo. I believe that nothing brings out a photograph better than its matte... it gives the space needed for the viewer to "reflect" on the photo. The frame simply accents the entire piece and "finishes" the collection. At Sierra Life, even the frame's color and choice of wood is yours alone, giving you complete control over what you buy. All of my frames are custom-made out of oak, cherry, maple, pine or walnut. The type of wood you choose is entirely personal preference. No one wood is better than the other... but some types do last longer, stay cleaner and generally look "prettier" than others. Oak, cherry and maple are harder woods and last longer, while pine and walnut retain a softer quality. Oak finish complements photos with great detail or texture, a great abstract wood. Maple gives portraits a soft, clean look and walnut accentuates monochrome and gives greater detail to highlights. An added bonus to my custom framing is that I charge the same price for all my frames. Whether it be expensive oak or expendable pine, it's all the same price. I simply charge you for the sized frame in the table shown. Overall, I want to let you control the details of the frame and matte while still adding a piece of the Eastern Sierra to your home.
What will I be receiving when I purchase a print? Can you tell me a little bit about the print itself?
Of course. I sell my prints relating to the image size. All of the images you see on the website are Low Res images, their own files and for the sole purpose of web viewing. These images will never make their way to a printer. I have Hi-Resolution files ranging from 20MB-150MB that I resize for printing, so if you order an 8x10 print for example, I will open that file and ready it for printing. I run my prints this way so I don't have to dramatically resize images. This makes sure there is absolutely no loss in quality or resolution. It also eliminates unnecessary time and editing. The images are scanned in at 2400dpi and left at that same resolution for printing, then saved in TIF format so they're guaranteed not to lose quality like JPG's do. So in the end, what do you get? -- An outstanding photograph for any wall.
Do you have Limited Edition Prints?
Yes, very few. Look for that camera icon you see above within my galleries! Out of my vast collection of prints, only ten or so are available in, 16x20 matted & framed limited edition prints (LEP's). These prints are numbered and signed limited editions of various quantities from 50 - 200 and once these prints reach their limit, all printing will cease for that particular edition. Email me for pricing and current availability on my LEP's.
Licensing Images
What are the terms necessary for licensing one of your images?

Terms Of Usage
I have several options for my buyers regarding my stock photography. Before I go into them, I must point out a few disclaimers and notes of importance, although mine are very basic in comparison to most photographers. (Yeah, everybody has them.)
- All of the images here on Sierra Life are available for purchase or licensing.
- When ordering through "stock order", images can be used more than once.
- At least one photo credit must be provided with the licensed image, something along the lines of "Photo © www.sierralifephotography.com" or "Photo courtesy of Sierra Life Photography/Paul Sebesta".
- All images must be linked back to "http://www.sierralifephotography.com".
- And last, I do offer trades. If you have something that I can use, or am interested in, in exchange for an image simply email me. Although it doesn't happen very often, you still never know.
One feature I am proud to offer is granting usage for non-profit organizations. I will gladly offer free digital usage for any non-profit agency such as CalTrout, Mono Lake Committee, or any organization that benefits the environment without taking in profit for gain. Almost all of the images found on Sierra Life are available for stock usage unless otherwise posted and lastly, I also give discounts if you license 5 or more images at a time.
Stock Prices & Info
My stock photos are sold in various sizes depending on page size.
- 1/4 page (3x5) to 1/2 page size...
- 3/4 page (6x9) to a full page (8.5x11)...
- For images larger than a full page to 11x18, expect them to be around $100 even, regardless of how big I go. I will not provide images larger than 11x18.
These resizes are carefully done so they do not lose quality from the original TIF scan at 2400dpi. Each one is compressed to 300dpi and delivered at JPG compression Level 10 which should give great output quality to any printer.
Let me know what your project is, and I will help you set up an image size that would be suitable for your needs. I enjoy reaching out and helping the people who have given me the opportunity for business. I mean after all... you could have chosen another photographer, right?

What is the difference between a web usage and regular stock photography?
Let me just start by saying, I really don't have a problem with people using my photos. Hence why, it's so easy to simply right click on a photo on the web and click "Save as". Everybody does it, so really it's no problem. Student use or any non-profit purpose (such as school reports, or research papers) get free usage. Just let me know what photo you'd like to use via email. You will have a fee if you are a business and want to use one of my photos for any profitable reason of income.
"Web Usage" says exactly what it is. This service is offered to my customers if they are looking to license an image for use over the web. If that's all they need it for, and/or are watching their pennies, this is probably their best choice. "Web Usage" licensing is half the price of a regular stock photo, but is limited to use over the web only. Also, any image ordered through "web usage" can only be used once and only once. Buyers do not get granted the permission to print, publish or sell the image in any way. All you get with "web usage" is a JPG file at around 100-150K (or a common Level 12 compression on a standard JPG file) as it appears on my site, emailed to you without the watermark.
My customers who license an image through stock photography ("stock order") can use the image in whatever form he/she desires, whether it be for publication, distribution, conferencing, web use or other uses. Also, stock photos aren't limited to one-time use only... they can be used multiple times. Stock photos can be printed or published, making them handier than "web usage" files. Licensed images are mailed to you on CD-ROM, allowing you a little more control in what you want to do with the file and when you want to use it. "Stock Order" is a great choice almost any time, especially with the flexibility and options you get compared to a "web usage".
Any other questions about ordering or pricing, feel free to email me. I've had many clients who've negotiated payment and ordering options with me, so it all works out for the both of us. Contact me
with any of these things.
